Kathy was there, across the miles, to help me every step of the way as I prepared to deliver my first baby in Bangkok, Thailand. While there were some great doulas to support me in person, Kathy had that hard-earned midwife expertise to help me sort through the good, bad and ugly of the information and decrees I was getting from the Bangkok hospital system. Taking into account the cultural boundaries and language difficulties, she equipped me to know what battles were worth fighting, and which were worth passing on, from the perspective of someone working in one of the most evidence-based, world class maternity care systems in the world. Kathy’s ‘Oh Baby!’ guide was an absolute bible and my ex-patriate friends from other countries found her candor and down-to-earth, detailed explanations unlike any other mothering books they’d seen before. Kathy is a great accompaniment to any mother who is in a location where she faces any challenges getting the attention, answers and assurance she needs from her maternity care providers.
